Adam Weiss, moderator: Adam has over 20 years of experience in digital marketing and currently runs his own consulting practice providing affiliate strategy focused on partnership development, monetization, and overall growth for Publishers in the channel. Adam started his career at 24/7 Media followed by About.com, then spent 14+ years at Rakuten Marketing (fka LinkShare) in a variety of roles eventually running the entire business as SVP/General Manager of the affiliate channel. Adam lives in the great state of New York, holds a BA in History from SUNY Buffalo and an MS in Internet Technology for E-Commerce from Pace University, and is a long-suffering fan of the NY Mets.
Nilla Ali is the SVP, Commerce at BuzzFeed, where she oversees the company’s affiliate business across more than 1,000+ retail partners, including key strategic relationships with Walmart and Amazon. She works with the BuzzFeed editorial and business teams to find marketing solutions for brands at the intersection of content and commerce. As part of that work, Nilla spearheads innovative partnerships, including the BuzzFeed Shopify Sales Channel, the Walmart and Tasty App integration, and the launch of BuzzFeed Reviews. She also oversees the retail and DTC advertising business for BuzzFeed. Under Nilla’s leadership, BuzzFeed’s affiliate business grew over 10x, and the company’s affiliate work won Rakuten’s 2017 Best New Publisher Award followed by Rakuten’s 2019 Advertiser’s Choice Award, Affiliate Summit East’s 2019 Affiliate of the Year, and Performance Marketing Awards’ 2019 Best Content Marketing Campaign. Nilla has extensive experience in the performance marketing space. Prior to joining BuzzFeed in 2016, Nilla helped build and ran the affiliate business at Time Inc. During her tenure at Time Inc., Nilla was on the advisory board of multiple affiliate networks, and the affiliate business was nominated for and earned multiple industry awards, including Linkshare’s 2016 Rising Star Publisher award and CJ’s 2016 New Publisher of The Year Award. Nilla was recently named to Forbes 30 Under 30 for the Marketing and Advertising category.
Sarah Johnson Dayes is Acceleration Partners’ Chief Client Officer, where she oversees AP’s work with leading brands to design and manage some of the world’s most sophisticated affiliate marketing programs, including Uber, adidas, Target and the Gap brands. Sarah is an experienced digital marketer and manager, having launched and grown a successful innovative, high-growth, e-commerce fashion business from 2004 – 2011, prior to coming to Acceleration Partners. Sarah is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Performance Marketing Association, a Founding Member of Chief, mom to two young kids, and a Peloton devotee.
Brian Marcus, TUNE’s Vice President of Global Marketing and Partnerships has been shaping performance marketing — as a digital marketer, as a platform owner, and as a product strategist — since 2002. Brian launched into eCommerce leading customer acquisition at JC Whitney, a century-old cataloger destined to move online. From there, he went on to build-up two global affiliate marketing platforms, one at Google (Google Affiliate Network) and the other at ebay (ebay Partner Network). Just prior to TUNE, Brian was VP of Marketing at Teespring, an ecommerce platform for creators to design, merchandise, and sell customized consumer products. Brian is a Chicago native, a Cubs fan, and a music fanatic. He now considers Seattle his home and spends his free time enjoying the Pacific Northwest with his family. He earned his BA from Grinnell College (in Iowa) and his MBA from the University of Chicago (Booth).
