In the 1980s and 1990s you went to the mall to hang out with your friends, see what was popular in fashion and pop culture and then pick up the basics from The Gap. Today large media companies like Buzzfeed, NBC Universal and Vertical Scope bring together and publish influencers and reviewers who curate products for us. We call the brands that have taken advantage of this trend "Direct To Consumer," but the evolving landscape indicates that's not really true. Brands increasingly need to navigate a distribution process that involves curators of shelf space (influencers & reviewers) and large media companies that attract users.
Malls aggregated stores that curated products to attract customers to a single physical location. Today media brands brings together reviewers and influencers who curate products to attract customers to a single digital location.

Kendal Clarke has over 10 years of digital media strategy, corporate development, and operations experience. As Chief Commerce Officer, Kendal is responsible for the commerce strategy and operations across all of VerticalScope. Kendal's strength is in identifying and growing new revenue opportunities and building high functioning teams. Prior to joining VerticalScope, Kendal was the Manager of Corporate Strategy and Development at Torstar and a Product Manager at thestar.com. Kendal has two bachelor’s degrees (BA and BPHE) from Queen’s University and her MBA from Schulich School of Business at York University.
Hallie Gellman is responsible for Commerce Partnerships at NBCUniversal Media for the TODAY Show and for NBC News digital. Hallie is an affiliate marketing expert with nearly 10 years of experience building thoughtful and relevant performance-based commerce partnerships, strategies, and revenue-driving pipelines for the most influential retail and media companies. Hallie is also the founder of a women's leadership group called The Chain. The Chain is a community platform that facilitates conversations, with the ultimate goal of connecting powerful women to impact positive change.
